The Waynesville Housing Authority (WHA) is providing an opportunity for public review and comment on the following:
Proposed revisions to the Public Housing Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy. WHA is proposing additional revisions from the previously approved plan in August 2010, and it is opening the public comment period for thirty (30) days.
Proposed revision to the Flat Rate Rent. HUD requires that the Waynesville Housing Authority annually offer families the choice of income-based rent (30% of adjusted gross income) or a flat rate rent (80% of fair market rent). Fair Market Rents (FMRs) represent the estimated amount that a comparable property in a given area typically rents for. The data is used to calculate flat rent amounts in our public housing units. Data is updated annually and must be posted at least 30 days before they are effective at the start of the federal fiscal year, November 1st, 2020.

WHA will conduct a public hearing on the proposed revisions to the ACOP policy and Flat Rate rents. PHA public housing residents and the general public are invited to attend and provide comments at the hearing and/or to submit written comments during the public comment period.
