WHA Office Closed Until Further Notice

Please be advised that the Waynesville Housing Authority office, located at 65 Church Street, is closed until further notice. One of our staff members has tested positive for COVID-19. For everyone’s safety all staff are self-quarantining and are being tested.

Please be safe, wear your face covering, wash your hands, and practice social distancing. We will re-open the office as soon as safely possible.

If you are a tenant, please use the after hours number (828-734-2783) to report emergencies only and they will be prioritized and managed on a case-by-case basis.

If you are an applicant, please use the pre-application form on this site.

Tenants or applicants may call the office and leave a message, but it may be some time before messages can be addressed depending on their status.

Vision

The vision Statement of the WHA is to improve the quality of life of the residents of the housing authority by providing safe and decent housing. The WHA will also educate and empower residents to improve their quality of life through assistance by providing safe and decent housing opportunities with upgrades and rehabilitation of their units.

Mission

The Mission Statement of the WHA is to become a leader in providing low-income, affordable, safe, and decent housing to the Southwestern, North Carolina region and provide the residents with respect and empower their ability to lift themselves out of poverty.  

WHA offices are located in the Waynesville Tower at 48 Chestnut Park Drive.  The Tower has restricted entry so please use the call box at the entrance during office hours. Please observe social distancing and wear a mask at all times.

TENANTS: If you have business at the office, please call to make an appointment. If you get voicemail, please leave a message. If you have a maintenance emergency, call (828) 734-2783 and leave a message.

APPLICANTS: Incomplete applications without requested documentation will NOT be accepted.

Also, we do not provide information about the waiting lists or an applicant’s position on the list. Applicants will be notified in advance of a potential vacancy if they are next on the waiting list.
